Filling Out the User Report Form

You can generate a report to send to our Moderation team for review by filling out the report form.

Please note: We are currently running an experiment with the report form. Some users enrolled into this experiment will find a more linear report process (multi-step). If you do not immediately see an option to fill a description field this means you are part of this experiment.

To report the user simply follow the applicable option prompts until you reach the “Tell us more” field then refer to section 2 below for tips on what additional information you can provide that may help.

After reporting the user you may be presented with an option to block them.

To fill out the form:

1) Begin by selecting the reason why you are submitting a report. Pick the most appropriate section of our Guidelines the reason falls under. Selecting the appropriate reason for your report will ensure that it is dealt with as quickly as possible.

2) Once you have selected a reason, you must include an accurate description of the issue in the Description field before submitting. The more detailed the better, so please provide as much verifiable information as possible, such as:

  • Date, time w/ timezone, and description of the violation
  • Where the violation occurred and/or the type of content
  • Examples: The username of person being harassed or the name of the channel the user was banned from.
  • Target of the violation
  • Examples: The username of person being harassed or the name of the channel the user was banned from.
  • Content showing the violation
  • Examples: Link to VOD with timestamp, screenshot, or chat log.
  • Name of the Game
  • Useful for Cheating in Online Game or Prohibited Game report categories.

3) Click Send! All reports are subject to review by our Moderation team. If Moderation determines a violation has occurred, a suspension will be issued to the associated accounts or the report will be escalated for further review.

Note: Abuse of the User Report Tool constitutes a violation of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Accounts associated with such activity may be suspended.

How to File a Whisper Report

To report a user who is whispering you in a manner that violates the Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, you must do so by clicking on the cog button located in the top right of your Whisper window, and then selecting the report style you believe is appropriate.

There are three options available to you:

  1. Block User - Most suited to when someone is annoying you or is someone you just do not wish to ever speak to via Whispers.
  2. Report Harassment - Most suited to when a user is whispering you in a manner that breaks the Terms of Service, such as being abusive or threatening you.
  3. Report Spam - Most suited to when someone is sending you phishing, malware, or advertisement items. These messages typically include a link.

If someone is violating the Community Guidelines or Terms of Service outside of the Whisper feature and you wish to file a more detailed report, follow the steps in the above section.

Important note: Just like the User Report Tool, abuse of Whisper reports constitutes a violation of our ToS and Community Guidelines. Accounts associated with such activity may be suspended.

Reporting a Whisper from mobile:

  1. When you receive a whisper, tap the cog wheel next to the username that you are reporting from inside the whisper screen.
  2. Select Report from the menu that appears on the bottom of the screen.
  3. Choose the appropriate report reason from the menu that pops up.
