Affiliate Onboarding Guide

This article explains the Affiliate Onboarding Guide to allow broadcasters to begin monetizing their channel.

Completing the Affiliate Onboarding process will allow you to begin monetizing your channel as an Affiliate. This process involves four steps including agreeing to the Twitch Affiliate Agreement, completing the required tax forms, and designating your payout method.

Access the form from your Settings tab on your Dashboard. Click Affiliate Onboarding to begin.
 

 


Complete the following steps:
  1. Step 1 - Payout Registration    
  2. Step 2 - Twitch Affiliate Agreement
  3. Step 3 - Tax Interviews
  4. Step 4 - Payout Method

All four steps must be fully completed in order to begin monetizing your channel. You will be able to change these settings at any time later on.
 
Complete the fields with the legal information for the entity that owns the channel. This information must exactly match your tax information and payout method, so make sure that it is correct with no errors.

Since Twitch is a subsidiary of Amazon, we are using some Amazon tools to help Affiliates get paid, including the tax information forms in the onboarding process. Please refer to the Amazon Tax Information Interview Guide if you need help with the definitions for any individual field.
 
Agree to the Twitch Affiliate Agreement. If you need help interpreting the contract, please contact your local attorney. Twitch Support is not equipped to interpret this contract for you.

If you are under 18, this section will ask for your parent or legal guardian to agree to the Twitch Agreement for you. Your parent or legal guardian must type their full legal name, check the box, and click Agree.
 
We require you to complete two tax interviews for royalty tax and service tax. The two forms are very similar, but are used for different purposes so they both need to be filled out accurately.

Please refer to the Amazon Tax Information Interview Guide if you need help with the definitions for any individual field.

If you need help filling in either tax information interview, please contact your local tax professional. Twitch Support is not equipped to interpret this contract for you.
 
Here you will select how you want to be paid. Twitch uses a third-party payment processor for payouts. The processor -- not Twitch -- charges a transaction fee each time you are paid, as well as for rejected payouts resulting from any incorrect information you submit. The fees vary based on the payout method that you choose. See the fees here.

We accept the following payout methods:
  • Direct Deposit / ACH
  • Check
  • Wire Transfer
  • PayPal
  • Hold Payouts
Choose Hold Payouts if you want us to hold your money until you are ready for a payout. You can choose this option if you want to control how often you are paid and consolidate transaction fees. Otherwise you will be paid automatically with the method you select.

If you need help filling in this section, please contact your local tax professional. Twitch Customer Support is not equipped do this for you.

This section may also ask you for additional information. If you get this prompt, please submit a scanned copy of your government ID such as a passport.
 
  • Q: What do I do if I decide to change my information later, such as my payout type or my address?   
    • A: On the Affiliate Onboarding main menu, click Start Over. This will clear any information that you have in our system and set your payout method to Hold Payouts, so you will need to fully complete the Affiliate Onboarding process again in order to enable monetization of your channel.
       
  • Q: I’m still stuck!
  • Q: When will I get paid?
    • A: Payouts are made 60 days after the end of the month of revenue being earned. For example, if you earn $200 on January 5th, the payout will be initiated 60 days after January 31, which is March 31. After the payout is initiated and depending upon the payout method, it may take several days for payouts to settle within an your bank.
       
  • Q: Why is my payout taking so long?
    • A: This is not guaranteed but typically, the following payout methods are paid out within the following timeframe:

  • Q: How come my payout keeps failing?
    • A: Ensure your payout information is validated when inputting payout information. For PayPal, it is important both country information, real name and PayPal email account agrees with information provided to PayPal directly.
       
  • Q: Why am I seeing a reduction in my payout?
    • A: This could be a result of how your tax interview questionnaire was filled out. Please go back to the tax form to ensure all information is filled out properly.
       
  • Q: When do changes to payout preferences take effect?
    • A: Once you click submit and it is confirmed, changes take effect immediately.
       
  • Q: Are there any payout threshold settings?
    • A: Your channel must accrue $100 before each payout is eligible to be initialized.

  • Q: Are there any payout fees involved?
    • A: Yes, Twitch uses a third-party payment processor for payouts. The processor -- not Twitch -- charges a transaction fee each time you are paid as well as for rejected payouts resulting from any incorrect information you submit. The fees vary based on the payout method that you choose and are as follows:
