How to Switch Your DNS server

This article explains how to switch to a public DNS server.

Some ISPs, most notably college campuses and corporate networks, will inadvertently block the Twitch DNS servers. If you are affected by this issue, try using a public DNS server such as google or openDNS. This will help loading issues that are affected by DNS lookups, but not if IP space is blocked.

To switch to a public DNS, first go to your start menu and type "ncpa.cpl" ; click on the icon. This will open your network connections page:


Next, right click the relevant network connection that you want to switch DNS for. Click properties:



Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click properties:




Fill in your preferred DNS and alternate DNS addresses:




You can search for the most up to date DNS addresses, or use these below:

OpenDNS Servers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Google DNS Servers:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
