This article explains what to do if you receive an error pop-up message due to trouble when loading an ad.
Notice an error or have feedback for this article? Let us know!
Here are two possible reasons that you saw the "Trouble Loading This Ad" pop-up message:
The ad failed to load from the Twitch ad network due to connectivity issues with your ISP. Please contact support if this is happening to you frequently.
You are using some form of ad blocking software. To whitelist a channel or the entire Twitch website, see below.
You can click the X in the pop-up message to close the ad error message, or you can wait for the timer to complete and the message will disappear.
As you may know, Twitch and Partner Broadcasters earn revenue from the ads you watch. To make sure you support your favorite broadcasters, Twitch recommends that you disable any ad blocking software you may have installed. Below are some whitelisting steps for some of the popular browser extensions.
Whitelisting a Twitch Channel/Page or the Entire Twitch Domain
The following covers information on how to disable AdBlock, Adblock Plus, or Ghostier, to support your favorite Broadcaster(s) or the entire Twitch community. For other programs, please refer to the whitelisting steps in the documentation for your chosen ad blocking software.
To whitelist for a specific Channel page, open the AdBlock option in your browser and select: Don't run on this page.
To whitelist Twitch as a whole, open the AdBlock option in your browser and select: Don't run on pages on this domain and adjust the slider to *.twitch.tv/*
If you have configured Ghostery to block a tracker, that tracker is blacklisted across all Internet domains/websites. To whitelist the Twitch domain:
Click the Ghostery browser icon when you are on the page you want to add and then click Edit Blocking options > Don't block on [URL].
Click the Ghostery browser icon when you are on the page you want to add and then click Whitelist Site.
AB+ for Chrome allows whitelisting for entire domain only.
To whitelist the entire Twitch site: Click the AB+ browser icon when on any Twitch page and then click Enable on this site so it changes to Disable on this site. This adds "twitch.tv" to the Whitelisted domains list in AB+.
You can whitelist down to the page level on AB+ for Firefox.
To whitelist a Twitch page: Click the AB+ browser icon when you are on the page you want to add and then click Disable on this page only.
To whitelist the entire Twitch site: Click the AB+ browser icon when on any Twitch page and then click Disable on twitch.tv.
