Stream Settings with OBS

RobMen86ed Feb 22, 2013 02:28PM PST

I'm new to streaming and I'm trying to get a good setup with Open Broadcaster Software. (Quality balance, Bitrate, Buffer, ect.) It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me a rundown on some settings that might work for me and why. Please?

Here are my specs and internet speeds: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.5GHz 3.90GHz
8.00 GB RAM
64-bit OS Windows 7 Home Premium
AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series (If needed)
Monitor Resolution 1600 x 900

Thank you to anyone who responds. I've been trying some settings out but I just can't seem to get it correct.

Try these and get back to us:

Resolution: 1600x900 (no downscale)
Video Preset: Fast
Max Bitrate: 3500KBp/s (Depends if it's a Moba, FPS, RTS, etc)
Buffer: 3500KBp/s (Depends if it's a Moba, FPS, RTS, etc)
Quality Balance: 10 (Depends if it's a Moba, FPS, RTS, etc)

Hope that helps,

Hey Xangold,

Thanks for your reply. I had my Max Bitrate and Buffer at 3000KBp/s before. Adding the 500KBp/s seemed to help significantly. Who knew such a small change could improve so drastically. I might adjust the Quality balance down to 9 of 8 just for the fast movement of some games as 10 can distort a little bit. But other than that I'm pretty much golden. I also realized I had Aero on for some reason while I was streaming so I shut that off too.

Again thank you. I was starting to think I was never going to get my channel up and running.

Good luck with all your endeavors!
