Help Setting Up Moobot.

Darkmale76 Jan 26, 2013 09:44PM PST

How does one go about setting up Moobot in the chat so that one can broadcast messages without having to type it out constantly?
For example on streams I frequently watch they have it so if you type !ip it prints the ip in the chat.
Any Help Is Appreciated.
Thx In Advance.

Here are some steps you can take to set up moobot, add an "!ip" command and then trigger it, all through a web interface.

Setting up the bot:
1) Go to moobot's web page at http://twitch.moobot.tv or go to moobot's chat at http://twitch.tv/moobot and get the link there.
2) To connect moobot to your Twitch click the "Connect with Twitch"-button on moobot's web page.
3) If you're not logged in, log in to Twitch when asked.
4) Click the "Authorize" button so moobot can know who you are on Twitch. Moobot will not get access to any of your Twitch settings.
5) (Optional) When asked, take the guided tour of your moobot dashboard.

Setting moobot as a moderator:
6) Go to your own chat and type "/mod moobot" (without the quotation marks) into the chat to set moobot as a moderator.
7) Wait until moobot has been detected as a moderator. This can take several minutes depending on chat lag. To tell if moobot is detected as a moderator you can type "!moobot" in your chat (no quotation marks again), and it will tell you if it's not detected.

Setting up the "!ip" command:
8) In the top menu of your moobot dashboard click the "Commands"-button.
9) In the next menu type "ip" (without the quotation marks) into the input field at the bottom of the menu.
10) Click the "Create"-button to create the command.
11) In the next menu type "The server IP is 127.0.0.1" (without the quotation marks) into the "Display text" input field.
12) Click the "Save"-button in the bottom -right of the menu.

Triggering the command:
13) Go to your Twitch chat and type "!ip" (again no quotation marks) and moobot should answer with "> The server IP is 127.0.0.1".
14) (Optional) You can also trigger the command from your moobot dashboard by selecting the command in the "Quick controls" panel on the right side, and then clicking "Run".

To get a feel for any of the other features (like repeating the IP-command automatically) I'd recommend taking the Guided Tour and then playing around on the dashboard.

You can also do the setup through chat commands. This can be a bit more demanding than using your moobot dashboard.

Setting up the bot:
1) Go to http://twitch.tv/moobot
2) In the chat type "!moobot join" (without the quotation marks)
3) Go to your own chat and type "/mod moobot" to set moobot as a moderator.
4) Wait until moobot has been detected as a moderator. This can take several minutes depending on chat lag. To tell if moobot is detected as a moderator you can type "!moobot" in your chat (no quotation marks again), and it will tell you if it's not detected yet.

Setting up the "!ip" command:
5) Type the command "!moobot commands add ip" (without the quotation marks)
6) Set the text of "!ip" with "!ip The server IP is 127.0.0.1" (without the quotation marks)
7) Now when you type "!ip" moobot will respond with "> The server IP is 127.0.0.1"

For my setup, I have a command that I started a while ago that is still repeating. All I did was check the "repeat every 10 minutes" box.
