IRC Chat not working

NoSlack Dec 31, 2012 01:49PM PST

I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. I've read the IRC connection guide. I am using mIRC. Here are my settings:

Options / Connect page / Nickname: noslack
Options / Servers page / Description: myfriendschannel
Options / Servers page / IRC Server:
Options / Servers page / Ports: 6667
Options / Servers page / Password: mytwitchpassword

When I connect I type in /join #myfriendschannel and it takes me to an empty channel, but I know the channel isn't empty because I'm on TS with the guys that are in there.

I'm sure it's just a problem with the way I am doing things. Something silly that I am missing. Can anyone help?`

I'm having a different problem, but with the same net result, IRC access to chat is not working. I'm getting disconnects while trying to connect, exactly like this thread from the closed support forums:

I've tried three different IRC clients, including mIRC. Is there a problem with the IRC interface right now?

Make sure everything is in lower case, including the channel name.

So the resolution of my problem (which is the same as is that my password had a space in it, and that was either making twitch's IRC server not work, or none of the 4 IRC clients I tried would work. I now have IRC working to twitch chat after I changed my password to not have spaces.

I have tried those changes in all the different clients that are available. I have tried IRC, I have tried KVIrc, I have tried HexChat, and I have even tried Xchat, I constantly get a Connection Unsuccessful each and every time

What I found was, I needed to change my Twitch password. logging in as facebookd did not help, but changing Twitch password and logging back in did the trick,
Good luck! :)
