As of today I can't open any streams. I have adblock disabled, but it just won't load after the initial ad. I can see how many people are watching the stream, but it's stuck on an old frame.
Does it work if you’re logged off?
Can you guys please fill out this? http://bit.ly/13n8MGo I’m collecting data for our engineers to look at.
We have site and network updates multiple times a day for different issues and optimizations, so “yes” – that’s why I need to collect the information so that they can figure out what they did to fix it.
With close to 40 million users, there’s a few kinks here and there that we have to check and work out.
@guest different browser? We need to know exactly what you have tried
@ho2tw0rk5 We need to know what you’ve tried
@adihashs It’s a problem for a small percentage of viewers. This is the help site, so you’re going to see a lot of questions here, more so than the average user (who doesn’t ever need to come here)
@kamonsimon ISP, location, what have you tried?
We’re having some problems duplicating it (which is necessary to know if anything we do fixes it. What kind of ping do you get to twitch.tv, and if anyone is able to test a VPN does that fix it or no?
Please fill out this form guys! It really helps out: http://bit.ly/13n8MGo
Proxy servers sometimes get IP banned because a user has maliciously used it to attack someone or spam, etc.
UPDATE: I’ve noticed a lot of you guys are using old versions of flash. Make sure to check what you have here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
It should be .94 at the end if possible.
If it is .97, follow our guide on how to disable pepper based flash: http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/articles/915875-disabling-google-chrome-s-built-in-flash-player
Old macs use powerPC processors, which are unfortunantly incompatible with most new software, which includes newer flash players. This requirement for a new flash player is needed for us to move forward with HLS. If you want to try using just our HTML5 player using safari, you can try twitch.tv/CHANNEL/hls You should not need flash player for that.
If anyone can check that with an older mac (I don’t have one) I’d appreciate it so I can see if that’s a solution to suggest for future old mac users.
Not all websites have the same flash implementation.
We’re looking at the future of streaming, which happens to not be RTMP based players. It’s unfortunate, and I wish I could give you more options. You may be able to use software called livestreamer with VLC in order to watch streams without using Flash player.
For someone with an older macbook, if you download and install chrome (can you do that?) does that work? Macs used older PowerPC processors, which are not compatible with a lot of software, and are often criticized for being so. I’m willing to work with you guys to see if there’s other solutions out there, but in order to move forward with updating to HLS, a very old version of flash was rendered incompatible.
