FIXED: Twitch Stutter/Lag

zzuin Jun 23, 2013 06:53PM PDT

I've seen a ton of questions out there regarding the stutter that many are experiencing watching I figured I'd try out what many have suggested which is to connect via a VPN. I went with StrongVPN and it totally worked. I can now view at lag free 720p+.

Right now I'm connecting through New York instead of Dallas which is the server I was on before with just straight Comcast ISP. I'm gonna upgrade my account so I can use a denver VPN, which should in theory get me to level3 dallas and I can better test apples to apples.

Anyone else having success using a VPN? Certain streams or certain channels?

Confirmed that this works. Downloaded Open VPN which gives you 100MB free a month and been running streams at 1080p+ no problem. My ISP is ATT and it was bad stutter before I tried the VPN. Let's see how long this 100MB lasts though.

Yep, works for me. I'm from Australia and on the lowest possible quality I had video and audio lag every few seconds. Used a VPN to CA, USA. I can now watch at 1080p+ with no lag whatsoever.

Same thing here, constant stuttering for me with Comcast. I'm getting 50 down/10up, but still stutters even on 240p. Connected through a VPN (a free one, even) and lag free streams all around.

Something needs to be done ASAP about this. I know that Twitch has mentioned being in talks with Comcast, TWC, etc, but I feel this is a huge issue that needs to be solved as a LOT of people are suffering from it.

That being said, even though this worked for me why is this the only solution, the free usage ran out in less than an hour... I'm already paying for internet I cant pay for this VPN thing also... twitch needs to fix this problem
